Exciting new opportunities within the Technology Group for two Technical Product Advisors based on site in the Pilbara. Site based roles 8/6 roster with occasional 4/3 adjustment as required. Reporting to the Technology Application Engineer the Technical Product Advisor provides support to customers regarding on-board hardware and software technology products. The aim is to ensure customers are successful in the maintenance, repair, operation and utilisation of these technology products, ensuring any issues are identified and managed in a timely manner. The role also issues regular technology performance reports outlining current performance levels, gaps and the progress of plans to rectify.

The successful candidates will act as the conduit between customer, WesTrac and Caterpillar. The role is intended to support the complete technology suite, with the nature of the role being advisory, i.e. although hands-on technical skills & experience are required for the role, most importantly it is aimed at providing advice, consultation and mentoring across a variety of aspects of the product to customers and key stakeholders regarding root cause analyses, maintenance & repair strategies relevant to the overall performance of the technology products – both for on-board hardware and software.

We view these roles as a crucial element of our technology support strategy in the future; the role will work very close to the Caterpillar engineering resources in the region and in the USA.

Desirable criteria includes advanced knowledge and understanding of Caterpillar MineStar or similar products and their application in the mining environment. Additionally, candidates who have experience in an Engineering role (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical or Communications) and an understanding of Six Sigma / LEAN principles are encouraged to apply. Training options are available within WesTrac, and successful candidates will have opportunity to undertake product specific training.

These roles have been activated to support the increasing industry utilisation of WesTrac and Caterpillar services and or products. The growth of the Caterpillar MineStar technology has multiple projects in various stages of development, from implementation through to mature operation. It is with these two roles along with the current Product Advisors that WesTrac will continue to support its customers, stakeholders and partners to ensure that Caterpillar products and brand continues to be the market leader in mining technology.
