About the opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a News and Storytelling Coordinator to support the Media and Public Affairs Lead at Uniting on proactive Media management. This role is responsible for researching, identifying and developing stories that illustrate the fantastic contributions that Uniting and our people are making every day for our clients and community. Within this role you will be:

  • Providing analysis of relevant research and operational information and assisting managers to evaluate and integrate the information they receive.
  • Coordinating and maintaining team management systems and ensuring relevant information is input on a consistent and regular basis.
  • Providing a collection of relevant data to assist with budgeting, the operation of the team and production of regular reports.
  • Conducting specialised studies as required, providing insights into the operation of the team and the organisation.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in a journalism, Media or news role with good editorial skills and experience with breaking news and generating original stories in a daily news environment. In addition to this you will:

  • A thorough understanding of issues and events in the region
  • Advanced cross-platform production skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of content strategy and audience demands across platforms 
  • Experience drafting Media material in all formats
  • Experience drafting speeches and talking points
  • Experience working with photographers, film makers and multimedia producers to develop proactive Media products for a range of platforms 
Even better:

  • Interest in public communication and social justice campaigns
  • Social media experience 
  • Some experience and understanding of marketing (digital and traditional)


Bachelor qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
