About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Cook to join us on a Part-time permanent basis.

Uniting Salem Early Learning is a friendly community based 55 place Not for Profit Early Learning Centre, caring for children aged 0 – school age. We recognise the many and varied routines of our families so we''re open from 7:30am until 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, closed only on weekends and public holidays. We are located close to public transport and have on site parking.

You''ll plan menus that are nutritious, well presented and appropriate meals and snacks for children 0-5 years of age within an allocated budget; you''ll ensure that Food Handling & Hygiene practices are adhered to; you''ll be responsible for stock control and ordering.

Essential Criteria

  • Food Handling & Hygiene qualifications (Food Safety Level 1 as a minimum requirement)
  • Nutrition and Menu Planning Certificates that meet the current Regulation
  • Relevant child protection clearance i.e. Working With Children Check/Working with Vulnerable People check

  • Sound understanding of the FSanz Food Standards Code
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nutrition and cost effective planning
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Understanding of diversity and inclusive practice
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to working within the values of Uniting Communities
