To support our success we are currently seeking an Database Administrator to join the Customer & Technology team in our Brisbane head office.


About the Role...

As a DBA, you will play a key part in the design, configuration and support of the database technologies including Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, MySQL, Cassandra, and Postgres. In addition you will also provide guidance and support to the Data Management team members in meeting their key objectives. You will ensure the database platforms provide responsive, efficient, automated and secure offerings including Cloud based offerings.


In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that only approved and authorised access to data stored in databases or backups is available, and that access is responsive and meets the documented business requirements.

  • Ensuring that database designs utilise the corporate strategy for data lineage, and single source of truth.

  • Ensuring that data stored in databases can be recovered to meet the documented business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

  • Ensuring that SQL Servers are maintained to prevent avoidable outages.

  • Supporting the Database Team’s daily job stream processing.

  • Providing out of hours support for production changes and overnight job stream processing on a rostered basis.

  • Ensuring that database designs meet business and operational requirements and objectives, and support documentation is available in sufficient detail to enable other database administrators to support and operate the database, as required.

  • Providing technical expertise and feedback on the quality of database design, implementation and data access designs to ensure they meet business requirements and objectives.

  • Mentoring Database Developers, and providing assessments of technical proficiency to the Team Leader.

  • Improving database development, change and administration processes through continuous improvement.

About You...

To ensure success you will possess:

  • Degree qualified in Computer Science / IT / Systems and/or more than 5 years relevant industry experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server database servers, including clustered environments.

  • Demonstrated database design experience including online transaction processing, online analytical processing, adapting and interpreting data models and relationships.

  • Demonstrated database development experience including system development lifecycle, requirements documentation, data analysis, test case development and execution; release management.

  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with senior management and clients; proven people management capabilities.
