To support our success we are currently seeking an Legal Counsel, Transitions & Corporate to join the Risk, Legal & Compliance team in our Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne office.

 

About the Role...

As the Legal Counsel, Transitions and Corporate you will provide legal advice to Sunsuper and its subsidiaries and to assist in Sunsuper’s compliance with its legal obligations, particularly in relation to successor fund transfers, other fund mergers corporate tenders and corporate superannuation plan design.

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Providing timely legal advice to, and obtaining an “easy to work with” response from stakeholders.
  • Liaising with external legal advisers within Budget and Policy.
  • Reviewing miscellaneous contracts, disclosure documentation and insurance policies.
  • Reviewing trust deeds and other governance material for potential successor fund transfer partners.
  • Providing advice in respect of tenders for superannuation fund successor fund transfers and other mergers.
  • Providing advice in respect of superannuation product design, particularly for corporate superannuation plans.
  • Research and interpretation (particularly SIS and Corporations Act).
  • Verification and legal interpretation.
  • Assisting in the management of breach assessment, remedy and reporting.

About You...

To ensure success you will possess:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.

  • At least 10 years post admission experience with a leading law firm or financial services provider.

  • High level of professional ethics.

  • Ability to produce clear and effective documents in plain English.

  • Ability to provide succinct technical legal advice and interpretation to internal stakeholders whom may be without a legal background.

  • Strong relationship management skills, inclusive of an ability to influence and negotiate outcomes of a complex nature.
