To support our success we are currently seeking an Analyst to join the Portfolio Analytics & Research Group in our Sydney head office.


About the Role...

As the Analyst, Portfolio Analytics and Research Group you will work with members of the Investment team, other colleagues at Sunsuper and external advisors to provide analytical support for the development, implementation and reporting in relation to nominated investments within Sunsuper’s ongoing investment program.


In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Support the maintenance, monitoring and modelling of the investment strategies for nominated portfolios of investments and relevant programs across the fund that take into account objectives and constraints for these portfolios.
  • Collaborate with a team of analysts to support listed markets, unlisted markets and asset allocation functions across the broader Investment Team for team-wide success.
  • Apply and deliver portfolio analysis, develop analytical tools, and assist with the implementation of new systems.
  • Monitor and report on existing investments, portfolio structure, risk exposures and performance. Assist with the preparation of presentations and participate in presentations as required.
  • Undertake portfolio analysis and research as required to assist other investment team members develop recommendations for portfolio construction and manager selection across various asset classes.
  • Assist with the implementation of appropriate investments to fulfill agreed investment strategies.
  • Model investment portfolios and potential new investments under various scenarios and stress tests.
  • Provide meaningful estimates of returns and fees for incorporation in asset models.
  • Assist as required to ensure consistency and accuracy of manager and custodian data for returns and risk measures. This may include administrative tasks to ensure data integrity where relevant,assisting in all areas of Sunsuper as required.
  • Collect information from diverse sources, undertake analysis and draw conclusions.

About You...

To ensure success you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in a quantitative discipline such as finance, mathematics, economics, commerce, actuarial science, or engineering.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience or relevant internship experience.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications, with relevant computer programming experience in MATLAB, VBA, R, Python or a related language highly preferred.
  • High analytical and problem solving capability with a strong attention to detail, complemented with intellectual curiosity and a growth mindset.
  • An ability to take appropriate responsibility, prioritise and manage stakeholder demands and demonstrate effective time management.
  • Independent, motivated self-starter that can work under pressure while contributing as a key team member.
  • Ability to contribute collaboratively in a highly interactive team servicing multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills.
  • Advanced analytical and numerical skills, including in Excel and other relevant financial software.
