Starlight Children’s Foundation are looking for Creative Facilitators in our Livewire Youth Program to join the Livewire in-hospital program working on a part time basis at Children's Westmead Hospital. 

Livewire is the Starlight Children’s Foundation’s adolescent specific program which aims to engage, entertain and connect seriously ill teenagers. Livewire In-Hospital Facilitators positively impact the well-being of young people by creating opportunities for creative connection and engagement with each other during their hospital stay.

Reporting to the Livewire In-Hospital Program Manager, this position allows you to use your creative talents and work with young people from different walks of life, ages, abilities and cultural backgrounds. Your focus will be in creating engaging and innovative activities and workshops for young people to encourage connection, create meaning and leave participants with a sense of accomplishment.

This role is being offered in both a part time and casual capacity at The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

Both roles will work on rotating days across a 7 day roster, including some weekends. The times for the shifts generally commence at 12:30pm. 

For the part time opportunity, we are flexible on what hours this may entail in addition to what days, however as the program is a 7 day a week program, some weekends will be required.

To shine brightly in this role your application and experience will need to highlight your proven ability to:

  • Creatively connect with young people in an authentic, positive and engaging manner; 
  • Develop and maintain quality relationships with young people, hospital staff and team members; 
  • Stay at the forefront of youth trends and build these into program delivery;
  • Promote to hospitalised patients, share and create written, audio or video content on the site;
  • Develop and prepare activities that are innovative, be adaptive to individual adolescent needs/abilities

Requirements of the role:

  • Hold a valid Working With Children Check or be willing and eligible to obtain one prior to commencement
  • Satisfy a National Police Check
  • Provide Professional referees
  • Undertake some immunisations as a requirement of the role
