About the Information & Facilities Team:

Within the Information & Facilities department, Building Services is responsible for the management and operation of QIMR Berghofer buildings, and associated plant and equipment (air conditioning systems, boiler, workshops, etc). From general day to day enquires and maintenance requests through to building and facility upgrades, building services efficiently resolves the concern.


Role Purpose / Responsibilities :

In this role, you will:

  • Provide an efficient, customer focussed and cost effective service;
  • Organise and supervise the day to day activities of the building services team and contractors;
  • Lead safety activities;
  • Work with the Works Coordinator to develop regular maintenance of plant and equipment and ensure all building, plant and equipment are maintained or scheduled for replacement; and
  • Develop and maintain a process for the effective management of stock and spare parts and ensure essential spare parts and other stock levels are maintained.Additionally, this role has an on-call component with some "out of normal business hours" work.


About you:

The ideal candidate will have a Trade qualifications (mechanical, electrical or refrigeration) and at least 5 years experience in maintenance services in a medical research, healthcare or similar environment. You will have experience in: supervising trades people; organisational skills to ensure work is completed efficiently and meets customer needs. Ideally, you will also have experience in the application and use of computer systems such as Building Management Systems (BMS) and MS Office applications.
