About the role: 
We are currently seeking a Production Superintendent at our Moorvale Mine.  Our Coppabella Moorvale mine complex (CMJV) consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometers southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverised coal (LV-PCI) for export markets.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the scope of your role will be to plan, organise and coordinate production activities; drive a culture that is disciplined in the execution of tasks, build accountability for performance and actively manage production teams and contractors within the open cut mining operation whilst ensuring production targets are achieved in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.
 
Duties will include:
  • Set and demonstrate high health, safety and environmental standards and ensure all practices are in accordance with statutory requirements and company policies and procedures
  • Oversee and coordinate the mining activities of the mining teams to ensure that production targets are met in a safe and cost-effective manner
  • Establish and maintain mining standards in all areas including road design, work areas and dumps
  • Liaise with the maintenance department to identify maintenance requirements and collaborate in the development of a plan to achieve the targets for the operation
  • Encourage reporting of all damage to plant and equipment, arrange repairs and analyse and deal with the underlying cause systems as a possible lead indicator for site safety consciousness
  • Provide strong leadership to drive a high-performance based culture, reinforce behaviours that will underpin the success of the site, hold people accountable to deliver and recognising and rewarding results
  • Maintain productive and harmonious relationships with other disciplines on the Mine site
  • Effectively forecast resource requirements to ensure future production targets are achieved
  • Set & maintain clear accountabilities for team and direct reports, ensuring completion of the bi-annual performance review process.
  • Accountable for reporting daily production data, coordination of end of month data, reconciliations, and monitoring production costs to ensure budgets are met
  • Benchmark results, processes and strategies with other sites, across the industry.  Share interesting and useful information
  • Actively investigate enhancements to procedures and processes that achieve improvements in performance, safety, job satisfaction and productivity
  • Experienced in MOS and managing dispatch operators
The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a Monday to Friday roster with 1 rostered Friday off per fortnight and can allow for a FIFO, DIDO or residential lifestyle.   

About you:
  • Certification as an Open Cut Examiner an advantage but not essential
  • 5+ Years experience in a similar position within a coal mine operation
  • Extensive proven experience in Mine Operations, commitment to safety and production and contractor management
  • A certificate or degree in a mining related discipline an advantage but not essential
  • Certification in Frontline Management and certification in Risk Management processes will be highly regarded but not essential
