About the role: 
We are currently seeking a Senior Mine Geologist at our Wambo Mine.  Our Wambo mine complex is a combined open-cut and underground mine located 30 kilometers west of Singleton that produces metallurgical and thermal coal for export and domestic markets.

The scope of your role will be to provide leadership and direction for the collection and input of geological data into the mining process to ensure optimisation of mining methodologies. The role will also be responsible for ensuring a safe work environment is maintained through demonstrated leadership commitment to safe behaviours.
Duties will include:
  • Determine strategy on the collection and collation of geological information across the complex
  • Deliver pit support to the mining operations
  • Ensure delivery of site short term geological models
  • Provide information and advice to mine planning processes
  • Champion the site reconciliation processes
  • Provide leadership and direction for the execution of mine site exploration programs as required
The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a Monday to Friday roster and can allow for a residential lifestyle. 
About you:
  • Minimum of ten years’ post graduate experience
  • Considerable experience in contractor management, project execution and underground mining
  • Advanced computer skills and literacy, including:
    • Vulcan
    • Microsoft Office (in particular Excel, Word and Project)
    • AutoCAD
  • Excellent understanding of mining methods, mining equipment capability and their interaction with the mine environment for underground and open cut coal operations
  • Advanced coal quality interpretation skills
  • Proficient in insitu gas estimation and critical parameters (including permeability and porosity)
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management
