About us

The establishment of the Ageing and Disability Commission is to better protect adults with disability and older people from abuse, neglect and exploitation in home and community settings.

The NSW Government takes its responsibility to safeguard the most vulnerable members of our community seriously. Unfortunately, people with disability and older people can be more vulnerable to abuse, neglect and exploitation. A number of reviews and inquiries have highlighted opportunities for the NSW Government to do more to address this issue. These include the recent Parliamentary Inquiry report into the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and provision of disability services, the Ombudsman’s recent report Abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults in NSW – the need for action, the Law Reform Commission’s Review of the Guardianship Act 1987 and the 2016 Parliamentary Inquiry into Elder Abuse. 

The establishment of the Ageing and Disability Commission will address the concerns raised in these reports, by strengthening the government’s ability to respond to abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults with disability and older people in home and community settings.

About the role

Identify, analyse and facilitate improvements to business systems, processes and workflows aligned with the overall business and strategic requirements and the Commission’s operational plans. (Please refer to supplementary material attached to role description for further details on this role)

This is an ongoing role in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013.

A Recruitment Pool may be created to fill similar roles for both ongoing and temporary opportunities if and as they arise.

Essential requirements

Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development. 

Appointments are subject to reference checks and the following pre-employment check:

National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014

- Salary range $108,044 pa - $119,061 pa plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

Targeted Questions

1. Describe a situation in which you used different approaches to gain the cooperation of many diverse people in order to succeed. How did your approach vary from one person to the next?

2. Senior roles in the public sector require you to identify and analyse a broad and often complex array of organisational issues, to ensure compliance with government and statutory obligations. Give me an example of where you have encountered such a situation and developed an innovative and broad reaching strategy to resolve it?

Part of the assessment process may include additional online capability testing, skills testing or work samples in accordance with the new Government Sector Employment Act 2013; therefore you may be contacted to participate. You may also be asked to complete a Health Declaration Form in later stages of the assessment process.
