The opportunity

Right now, Roads and Maritime Services in the process of delivering an ambitious $51.2 billion investment into building a future-ready transport system, mobilising new project teams every day to make big things happen in the infrastructure space. We currently have a limited number of great opportunities for Civil Engineers to join our Technical and Project Services team within RMS. The positions are initially located: at the Kariong to Somersby M1 Upgrade Construction Site Office; at the Tuggerah to Doyalson M1 Upgrade Construction Site Office; at the Scone Bypass Construction Site Office and in the King Street, Newcastle Office. The successful candidate would be expected to be able to work at various sites within the Hunter Region over the duration of this appointment.

In this role, you will be responsible for contributing to the development, implementation and management of road and bridge related projects in order to meet the objectives of the section including time cost and quality objectives across Technical and Project Services. Working closely with the project management team, and technical advisors, you will be involved in providing: project management assistance; delivering project briefs; timely and accurate project reporting.

The salary for this position is Engineer Level 1/2 ($89,646 - $118,846) per annum plus superannuation.

Essential requirements
  • A relevant four-year engineering (Civil / Structural or related) degree.
  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of materials, equipment and techniques used in road, bridge and/or maritime construction and / or maintenance.
  • Possess a current motor vehicle driver license
  • Willingness to work outside normal working hours or to travel on occasion
