Job Title:  Senior Field Supervisor
Job Grade / Classification:  Senior Field Supervisor Grade 3
Employment Type: Full-time, Ongoing
Location:  Pacific Palms, Manning Great Lakes Area
  • Manages planning, implementation and delivery of approved works, projects and maintenance programs across the Area, ensuring completion within deadlines and meeting required budget, quality, safety, environmental and legal standards and developing and maintaining relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Lead and supervise teams of field staff including managing performance and development, rostering, work programming and management of systems including monitoring and reporting on works programming and expenditure.
  • Lead and contribute at a senior level to the Area’s planning, development, design and delivery of asset construction, enhancement and maintenance programs, vehicle and plant operation and maintenance programs, purchasing and procurement to support delivery, plant and animal pest programs and participate in incident preparedness and response.

Several other entities associated with the Department include the Environment Protection Authority, statutory trusts responsible for zoos, parks and gardens, independent assessment and planning bodies, and development corporations.
National Parks and Wildlife Service manages, conserves and cares for land in national parks and reserves. NPWS links customer, conservation and cultural outcomes in a sustainable way by building participation in the management and use of parks.
Primary purpose of the role
Manages the planning, development, implementation, management and delivery of approved works, projects and maintenance programs ensuring completion within required deadlines, quality, environmental and construction and safety standards and at or below approved budgets. Co-ordinates works program planning and reporting across the area and monitors and reports on works program expenditure. Lead and supervise field staff across a wide geographic area.
Essential requirements
  • Project management skills and experience and the ability to effectively lead teams to ensure high staff performance and standards
  • Demonstrated ability to work with professional and field based staff to develop, implement and monitor programs across a broad geographic area
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise competing demands that involve the planning, management and completion of works programs and construction of park/recreational facilities including capital works programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a fire leadership role and incident control functions or willingness to undertake appropriate training to achieve required capability.
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate and driver’s licence including four-wheel driving certificate.
This role includes firefighting related activities, is very physically demanding, requiring heavy muscular activity, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling loads, bending, climbing, and driving a variety of vehicles. Senior Field Officers must meet the requirements of a specific medical with a clearance to undertake the fitness test to a moderate level, and task based physical assessment in order to undertake this role. The role holder will need to obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
