Location:  320 Pitt St., Sydney CBD (Relocating to Parramatta at the end of 2019)

The Department of Planning & Environment is the lead NSW Government agency in planning for a growing NSW. The Department is going through an exciting period of organisational and operational change.

The Department’s two related agencies - the Office of Environment & Heritage and the Office of Local Government - support the conservation and protection of the environment and an effective local government sector in NSW. Several other entities associated with the Department include the Environment Protection Authority, statutory trusts responsible for zoos, parks and gardens, independent assessment and planning bodies, and development corporations.
About the Role:
The Communication Manager will lead a digital and publishing team with a focus on high profile program delivery area, as well as strategic activities to support a best practice content publishing, community and stakeholder engagement approach across relevant industry and sector groups.
The role provides expert advice and cohesive specialist support to senior executive and business units to deliver high quality publishing, online content and digital programs and other agency service delivery.
This role requires an experienced candidate with a strong independent ability due to the high volume of work this Business Unit undertakes. It is a rewarding role with varying responsibilities and engagement with key stakeholders across the Department. This is a vibrant young team that is digitally savvy with career opportunities for growth.
Primary purpose of the role
  • The work includes managing content uploads in a content management system, reviewing marketing materials and supporting events activation. Project management experience will be highly regarded and the role will include leading digital projects in the Department. Communications writing skills would be highly regarded.
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications or other relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience

This is an ongoing opportunity. Some work in our Sydney CBD office, as well as out of hours, may be required. Please note the Department will be moving to Parramatta from early 2020.
