Director Business Case – Sydney Metro

Sydney Metro is leading Australia’s biggest public transport infrastructure program, developing, delivering and operating a new world-class metro railway system for Sydney. 

Australia’s first fully-automated metro opens in the first half of 2019, extending into the Sydney city in 2024 in a $20 billion-plus program of works. Next will come a new underground metro between the Sydney CBD and Greater Parramatta.


As a new NSW Government statutory authority, Sydney Metro has been tasked with developing and delivering metro railways, and managing their operations. Sydney Metro also leads the development of vibrant station precincts to meet customer and community needs, transforming the way Sydney travels and helping shape the future of Australia’s largest city.

 
The opportunity
 

We are currently recruiting a Director Business Case to work on Sydney Metro’s Western Sydney Airport.  The primary purpose of the role is to actively lead the development of the Final Business Case for Stage 1 of Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport and keep key stakeholders fully informed at the point of final document progress.  The role acts as the key interface between all work streams and is responsible for the collation and publication of all Final Business Case deliverables.


You will lead by example to inspire direction, deliver and develop people.  The successful candidate will promote our NSW Public Sector and organisational values to achieve outstanding results for our clients and customers.

 

This will be actioned by providing leadership to the project’s business function through priorities and objectives.  From a financial point of view, there will be a strong focus on the economic and financial strategy.  In other words, oversee the development of rigorous quantitative and qualitative financial cost-benefit analysis to define problems as well as ultimately find solutions.

 

A key function will be to lead the management of the INSW and IA assurance review process and preparation of all responses to close out all comments as well as carriage of all mandatory documentation.

 

All of the above will be to support the development of final business case documentation for the project.  Whilst this is a project based role, the successful candidate will need to be customer service focused in a matrix oriented environment.  This role will have three direct reports.

Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and relevant industry experience
