The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operations Planner within the Transport Management Centre. The position will play a key role in formulating traffic and transport management plans in response to major events in order to achieve the goals of safe and successful events.

Reporting to the Senior Transport Operations Planner, you’ll ensure ongoing and consistent development and maintenance of Traffic Management Plans for special events, emergency management, road incidents and major projects through regular consultation with stakeholders and other government agencies.

We are looking for an individual who is committed to a high standard of customer service, who is innovative in their approach to a collaborative work style, working with a number of stakeholders with varied priorities. You will possess have high levels of professional integrity; demonstrate timely delivery of outputs to high standards and excellent planning and project management abilities.

Essential requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in traffic and transport management and/or related discipline, or relevant experience
  • Experience in road and transport network, traffic and transport planning, transport management and traffic and transport operations
  • Sound knowledge of traffic engineering principles including road network assessment, traffic analysis, planning and operations
  • It is a prerequisite that applicants possess a current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  • The successful applicant may be required to work outside normal working hours, weekends and public holidays on many occasions
