 ·      Full Time, Part Time and casual positions available

About us

The Anzac Memorial Building, located in Hyde Park South, is NSW’s principal war memorial. It is supported by the Office for Veterans’ Affairs in the Department of Justice.

It was dedicated in 1934, originally commemorating the courage, endurance and sacrifice of Australians who served in World War One. It was rededicated in 1984 to honour all Australians who have served in wars and peacekeeping missions. In 2014 the NSW Government announced funding support for a major new initiative for education and interpretation facilities and a water cascade to be built at the Memorial as the key legacy project for the Centenary of Anzac period. 

With the final stages of the Anzac Memorial Centenary Project in progress, the Memorial is scheduled to reopen in October. The Memorial will be open between 9am and 5pm every day except Christmas Day and Good Friday.

 

About the role

 

With the re-opening of the Memorial imminent, we require a number of Guides to join the team. We are looking to fill vacancies on a full time, part time and casual basis for a period of 2 years initially with a view to ongoing employment.

The Anzac Memorial Guide will be responsible for providing visitors to the Anzac Memorial, with a welcoming, memorable and informative experience of the building and exhibits fitting to the Anzac Memorial Building’s status New South Wales’ principal war memorial.  The Anzac Memorial Guide provides assistance with the delivery of events, commemorative services and public programs occurring during the day, evenings and on weekends.

 

About you

We are looking for someone who has a passion for military history with a commitment to customer service.

·         Ex-Service personnel within the Australian Defence Force are encouraged to apply.

·         An understanding of protocol and the capacity to develop programs for commemorative services is required.

·         Experience in coordinating and supporting staff and volunteers.

·         Retail and cash handling experience including use of EFTPOS would be advantageous


To be eligible for this role you will require a valid NSW Working with Children Check.

1.      The Anzac Memorial Guide role involves delivering tours to a diverse range of visitors, this often requires working with a team of guides to manage large group numbers. Can you provide examples of your experience in delivering tours and/or programs, highlighting what techniques you employ to engage your audience? You should also outline your skills in teamwork and task management by providing an example of how you have worked within a team to prioritise and complete a diverse range of tasks.  

2.      Provide an example of a difficult situation you have encountered. How did you manage the situation while maintaining integrity and professionalism, and what was the outcome?
