  • Grade 9/10 Salary up to $131,969

The Department of Finance, Services & Innovation (DFSI) is a service provider, regulator and central agency of government. We are transforming the way we do business to help make NSW great. 

Under the supervision of the Managing Lawyer you will provide sound legal advice and representation to the Better Regulation Division of DFSI in particular in relation to criminal prosecutions for breaches of work, health and safety and workers compensation legislation.  You will also have carriage of coronial, civil and administrative proceedings on behalf of the Better Regulation Division. You will be required to appear and/or instruct in prosecution matters and draft pleadings and other legal documentation. You will also be required to provide legal advice in relation to other matters arising in regulatory enforcement and investigations.

In this litigation focused role you will be working in an interesting and fast paced regulatory environment with competing priorities. You will be a team player who can also work independently. You will be client focused. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, high level interpersonal skills and good negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

The Key Requirements for this role include:

  • Bachelor of Laws or equivalent degree qualification.
  • Admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and hold a current practising certificate as a solicitor.
  • Minimum of 4 years Litigation experience.
  • Knowledge of two or more of the following: regulatory prosecutions, criminal law, work health and safety law, administrative law and NSW Court and tribunal practice and procedure.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advocacy skills

Salary Grade 9/10, maximum salary package up to $131,969 Package includes salary  $108,044 - $119,061 and employer’s contribution to superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.
