Job Title:  Senior Team Leader, Native Forest Policy and Programs
Job Grade / Classification:  Environment Officer Class 12
Employment Type: Ongoing – Full Time (1 position available)
Location: Successful applicant can choose to be based in Sydney City, Grafton, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour or Queanbeyan (Our Sydney office will be moving to Parramatta in late 2019)


• Ongoing full-time role available in Sydney or other NSW locations.
• Contribute to the development environmental policies and programs led by the EPA and other NSW government agencies, including monitoring programs, research and regulatory programs.
• Ability to work with both policy and operational staff in the delivery and design of technical programs and environmental regulations.
• Work in both forest and office environments.

About the role


The EPAs Forestry Branch is going through an exciting period of organisational and operational change. The role will be pivotal in the delivery of technical support to operational teams, the design and implementation of environmental monitoring, mapping and technology programs, and the expert support to changes to environmental regulations in NSW native forests. Primary purpose of the role


Lead a team responsible for delivering technical and policy advice, programs and projects on biodiversity conservation, soil and water protection and systems/technology to support the regulation of native forestry on public and private land. Significantly contribute to the development and implementation of strategic conservation and regulatory programs and strategies to ensure ecologically sustainable forestry management on public and private land in NSW.


Essential requirements


• A degree in Science or in a relevant natural resource discipline.
• Superior knowledge of the operational and strategic requirements for the successful delivery of a range of biodiversity conservation, soil or water conservation or natural resource management programs.
• High level experience in developing, implementing and monitoring strategic and operational plans for the delivery of complex programs, with a demonstrated track record of providing direction and achieving results through multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
