We currently have a new opportunity for a Senior Manager, Accounting Advisory to join the high performing Group Advisory & Solutions function. This role is a pivotal part of the Finance team’s Centre of Excellence, partnering with the wider business to help them meet the challenges of the evolving business environment, including accounting standards interpretation and implementation advice, transaction structuring and support, quality Board and ARCC reporting and finance process improvements.

 

This opportunity is based at our head office in Sydney. Reporting directly into the Financial Controller, Property & Funds, you will work very closely with members of the Group Finance team and supporting our functions across our integrated business model covering our core businesses of Retail, Office and Industrial and Residential, as well as our corporate functions including treasury.

 

The duties will include but not be limited t

  • Provide technical accounting advice and accounting structuring support to a range of internal customers for current and new accounting standards, in relation to BAU activities, major deals and transactions;

  • Managing the delivery of implementation projects for new accounting standards, including technical accounting support, impact assessment, project management and embedding change across finance to cater for any new reporting requirements;

  • Preparing reports and accounting position papers on various accounting issues to support decision making, budgeting and forecasting with reference to relevant accounting standards and interpretations;
  • Lead, participate in and manage teams, to explore, inform and conclude on accounting issues and judgements which affect the Group;

  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders and external advisors as relevant;
  • Update, review and maintain the financial accounting policies of the Group;

  • Engaging externally with peers and lobby groups on the formation, application and interpretation of external reporting standards

  • Reviewing disclosures for external documents and support the preparation of the Group statutory reports and analyst presentations

  • Ad hoc projects including business transformation initiatives

Technical competencies required are:

  • Completed CPA/CA qualification with a strong accounting and/or audit and assurance background gained in Professional Services or commerce;

  • Solid understanding of the AASB/IFRS framework, ideally with experience in performing technical analysis in relation to new accounting standards and other common transaction-related accounting standards;

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to influence and present ideas and concepts with impact to internal customers and other key stakeholders;

  • A commercial and analytical mindset with strong financial acumen and problem-solving skills;

  • A collaborative working style and a positive, curious and growth mindset.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities.
