Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process zinc, lead and silver from our open cut mine. It is then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and is shipped to our customers all over the world. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced professional to join our McArthur River Mine operation as a Superintendent, Mobile Maintenance on a FIFO roster (9 days on, 5 days off). As an entrusted key leader of our operation you will be required to ensure the successful delivery of the business plan as well support key stakeholders to guild our safety culture and Glencore Values.

As the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent you will lead supervisors to manage the workforce and suppliers to consistently deliver time and cost efficient solutions, whilst championing safety as our primary value.

Reporting to the Mine Manager, key responsibilities include;

  • Drive positive change and safety performance to lead and promote our Sentis safe work program and strive for Citizenship to support Glencore values
  • Continuous improvement and management of reliability maintenance efficiencies to reduce failures
  • Communicate effectively by leading and influencing a multi-disciplinary team and encourage employee capability development
  • Establishing a culture to support strategic objectives and key stakeholders
  • Manage compliance of environmental performance and impact
  • Ability to provide product knowledge and identify solution on major OEM

To secure this role you will have strong experience managing a maintenance function, supported with formal qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or related trade. In particular, you’ll have demonstrated capability in operational strategic planning to deliver business outcomes and lead continuous improvement. You’ll be well versed in the legislative requirements of mining and apply this to risk management systems.

To secure this role you will required to have;

  • Tertiary Qualification, Degree or Diploma (e.g. Mechanical Engineering) or Trade Qualification (e.g. Mechanical Trade)
  • Strong technical and leadership ability
  • Demonstrated operational strategic planning and development to deliver business outcomes
  • Preferred experience in risk management processes and systems (understanding of the Mining Act and relevant legislations)
  • Strong customer service delivery and ability to liaise and negotiate with various stakeholders
  • Proven experience in managing operating and capital budgets
