Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process zinc, lead and silver from our open cut mine. It is then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and is shipped to our customers all over the world. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.

At MRM, we’re looking for a Senior Mining Engineer to lead the short term planning team consisting of Drill & Blast Engineers, Production Planners, Fleet Management Systems Technicians and Graduate. You have a degree in Mining Engineering (or similar), coupled with experience working as a Planning Engineer. You are an ambassador for safety – always striving for Citizenship to support our Glencore values.

Reporting to the Superintendent, Technical Services, key responsibilities include;

  • Align the short term plan with short term position and long term direction
  • Optimise and deliver open pit, waste rock dump and bench development designs
  • Reconciliation of monthly, quarterly and annual progress against estimate and budget
  • Support mine development projects including design, budget, schedule, construction, compliance and cost related functions
  • Assist in the development, calibration and maintenance of the mining cost model and supporting development of the annual budget document
  • Lead equipment selection and scenario analysis projects
  • Assist with pit optimisation
  • Assist with Ore Reserves modelling and reporting
  • Support long term and strategic planning

To secure this role you will need a Mining Engineering Degree with upwards of 7 years’ experience in technical mining engineering roles that includes supervisory experience. Advanced skills in Deswik, Vulcan and Whittle are highly desirable.
