POSITION SUMMARY

The role of a Business Analyst is to assess the business and information needs of the organisation in line with both corporate and IT Strategy The responsibility includes managing small to medium sized projects that improve business efficiency and productivity

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Analysing and delivering business process initiatives either managing some components of mid sized initiatives or all components of small initiatives Meeting with user groups to gather and analyse end user requirements Focus on continuous improvement ensuring best utilisation of available technologies Analysing workflow to create process maps and isolate areas of potential improvement Identify gather categorise and articulate business requirements comfortably in highly complex environments Support ad hoc requests and troubleshooting of system issues faced by the business Complete and produce business requirements and other project related deliverables within agreed timeframes Developing functional specifications that design and document desired outcome of system enhancement development Work with relevant technicians to identify all technical elements needed to deliver functional enhancements and improvements Coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the overall efficiency functionality and user friendliness of system enhancement development Coordinating release activities to ensure successful delivery of functionality Preparing material and providing training and assistance to end users following implementation Working as a crucial component of a project team responsible for enhancing existing systems or developing new systems Maintain a high quality low cost approach to development of business requirements and subsequent solutions Participating in project retrospectives and Post Implementation Reviews (PIR) to ensure continuous improvement throughout the project delivery lifecycle Manage and coordinate the disparate project activities to ensure successful completion of projects Maintain project tools and take responsibility for distribution and consolidation of project related communications Other responsibilities as directed by their manager People Driving What s Possible through the active demonstration of challenging the norms and exploring possibilities Collaborate with other BA s in medium to large sized projects Assist in any development and delivery of training that the business may require Process Ensure all activities undertaken comply with relevant Acts legal demands and ethical standards Ensure all projects are undertaken within the MMS project management framework(s) Undertake appropriate integrity and quality assurance checks Page 2 McMillan Shakespeare Group Position Description

POSITION CRITERIA

Capabilities & Strong ability to converse with both end users and IT employees Behaviours at all levels of the organisation Good understanding of all aspects of the systems software development life cycle Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Sound ability to analyse isolate and interpret business needs Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with a demonstrated track records of strong problem solving Sound technical specification writing documentation skills An appreciation of both IT and business strategy A willingness to develop a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of the business and its operational and strategic challenges Strong customer service focus Knowledge of business process re engineering Ability to work in a team environment Ability to manage multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines Knowledge & Self motivated and highly organised At least 5 years experience in IT with at least 2 years Experience experience in a business environment Qualifications Tertiary qualification in a business or technology related discipline will be well regarded
