The role 


In the mining industry, in-depth knowledge is crucial for driving and sustaining change that results in improved productivity.  Our Research & Development team possess that knowledge and deliver by partnering with industries and universities to conduct technical studies and offer the industry insights to significantly reduce costs and optimize processes.

Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, we are currently seeking a Development Chemist to participate in the development and improvement of products, processes and technologies which enable Dyno Nobel to provide high quality cost effective customer oriented products.


About you


You will have exceptional analytical and testing skills, good technical report writing and communication skills and the ability to maintain strong relationships with key personnel in the Technology, Engineering, Customers and Operational departments.


On a daily basis your responsibilities are but not limited to the following:


  • Research and Development of new products
  • Continuous product improvement and optimisation
  • Coordinating field trials of new products and processes
  • Development & Implementation of procedures that will achieve and maintain ISO 9001:2008 Accreditation


This role will be based at Mt Thorley Technical Centre (NSW) however it will require some travel. The ideal candidate must be willing to travel to remote locations within Asia Pacific region for periods up to two weeks at a time.


Skills and Experience


  • The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science degree (majoring in Chemistry) and will have experience in a chemist role.
  • Experience in a Research and Development work environment, a NSW Security Clearance, a NSW Blasting Explosives Users Licence, experience with the delivery and use of blasting explosives in the field, knowledge of emulsion technology and UN classification testing experience are highly desirable.
  • Must be willing to travel
