Traineeship - Information Technology

IMB is pleased to be offering an Information Technology Traineeship for 2019.  An IMB traineeship comprises of a one year entry level program combining on-the-job training; and studying to complete a nationally recognised qualification, a Certificate 3 in Information Technology.

As an IT Trainee you will learn about an Information Technology environment within the financial services industry and more specifically have the opportunity to gain experience and skills in:

  • First level technical support and troubleshooting
  • Desktop computer building and imaging
  • Incident management and problem resolution skills
  • Creating documentation and procedures
  • Effective communication techniques and building relationships with other business units.

This is the ideal opportunity for a tech savvy AND customer service driven HSC graduate to develop skills and experience in a highly service focused and ever changing technology environment within a bank located in Wollongong. 

To ensure you are successful as a trainee, you will need to:

  • Show a genuine interest in Information Technology (building PC's, laptops, programming and web development)
  • Have a solid level of digital literacy, be an early adopter of technology, pick up new software/systems quickly and have some knowledge of MS Office  
  • Have a friendly and helpful phone manner with good verbal and written communication skills, confident to deal with all types of people
  • Follow instructions and procedures carefully and assimilate and retain information
  • Apply your learnings and experience on the job and eager to develop yourself further
  • Display a "can-do" attitude on the job and a commitment to achieving work and study requirements within timeframes
  • Display initiative on the job and take responsibility for work tasks
  • Be flexible and adaptable to changes within the workplace and love helping others to achieve common goals.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible to undertake an IMB traineeship, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status
  • Have completed your Higher School Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Not hold a qualification higher than Certificate 2 level or be enrolled in another tertiary qualification
  • Be willing and able to work and study full time (includes up to 7.5 hours of study per week)
  • Be committed to completing all of the necessary elements of a training contract
  • Have a positive academic track record in achievement at school and other aspects such as employment, work experience, volunteer or community work, sport and/or extracurricular activities.

Please note:  Employment will be for the duration of the Traineeship only (up to 12 months) and may lead to a permanent position.
