Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCA) is a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. With a solid network of branches nationally, we service a multitude of customers, including mining, construction, quarry and forestry with quality equipment and after sales support.

The Role:

Due to continued growth within our mining sector, we are looking to significantly increase the support and services of our FIFO teams with highly skilled and experience Heavy Plant Mechanics throughout the Pilbara region. We currently have an opportunity for a Leading Hand to join the friendly and successfully busy team working on a FIFO 2/1 Roster from Perth to Tom Price in the Pilbara.

Your main responsibilities would include:

  • Leading a team of Shut Crew employees to meet, deliver and exceed Hitachi's promise of Total Customer Satisfaction
  • Managing Quality Control & driving strong WHS Commitments to safety as a priority for all
  • Performing maintenance servicing and repairs on a wide range of quality Hitachi mining equipment
  • Liaising with technical support staff and coordinating diagnostic, maintenance and repairs as a valued team member
  • Driving efficiency within the team to meet tight deadlines and safely assemble machines on client sites in the Pilbara.
  • Carrying out major component change outs, across various mine sites and maintain onsite tooling and build container

To be successful in this role, you will need proven experience delivering outcomes:

  • Qualifications - Minimum Certificate III in a Mechanical Engineering discipline. Heavy Diesel mechanics and fitters with Hitachi specific exposure would be helpful;
  • Leadership - previous experience leading a team to achieve and exceed set goals
  • Skills - Demonstrated work experience and technical knowledge within a mine site is essential
  • Safety Conscious - A strong developed awareness and dedication to personal and peer health and safety.
  • Analytical thinking - Ability to navigate complex technical issues to deliver high quality outcomes in repair and maintenance services with minimal to zero rework
  • Innovation - Passionate pursuit in delivering quality outcomes and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
