The Opportunity

The newly created Security and Transformation Branch is driving significant programs of cultural change, led through its Transformation Team. Working closely with the PM&C Executive, the Transformation Team is leading work to strengthen the Department’s protective security culture – developing a program of reform that reaches across people, systems and technology, and an associated communications strategy to underpin the change management process.

Protective security is critical to the PM&C mission, and a key enabler of our core business. Looking forward, PM&C Transformation also requires innovation in the way we consider and manage security. As our work becomes more agile and innovative – and our people more diverse, mobile, globally oriented and digitally connected – our security culture must adapt. The Transformation Team is also driving the next phase of PM&C's transformation agenda, developing and coordinating initiatives that celebrate success, enable leadership and empower staff. This role is an opportunity to play a leadership role in the delivery of two high-profile initiatives that reach across the entire Department, the APS more broadly, and represent key priorities for the Secretary and PM&C Executive.

The Senior Adviser will be responsible for:

  • Preparing strategic advice for the Executive, including high quality briefing material.
  • Building and nurturing stakeholder relationships, including Senior Executives across the Department, and key areas across Government.
  • Contributing to the design of significant programs of cultural change and associated communication strategies.
  • Coordinating the delivery of the cultural change program, working closely with the Executive, business areas and the PM&C Security Team.

They will approach policy challenges creatively and be flexible and responsive in a fast-paced environment. They will possess sound judgement and be able to work with members of the Executive and SES across PM&C to drive enduring cultural change.
