A fantastic FULL TIME opportunity, for a highly motivated ‘Grounds / Handyperson’ to join our team in providing grounds and handyman support Fernbrook State School. Your can-do attitude, safety focus and passion for great service will be rewarded with excellent benefits and conditions.

Key duties:

  • Implement & maintain a plant nutrition program
  • Implement & maintain an integrated pest management program
  • Provide a reactive maintenance to structures and services
  • Provide emergency call-out service (e.g. to address storm damage)
  • Ensure full compliance with all OH&S and environmental requirements.
  • Back filling and covering site manager leave – (Training will be provided)
  • Perform pre-operational inspections
  • Competent to operate in the use of grounds and gardens equipment including ride on mower, brush cutters, chain saw and portable spray units.
  • Operate independently powered tools
  • Testing and tagging – (training will be provided)
  • Carry out routine maintenance


  • Electrical, plumbing and carpentry HVAC exp advantageous.
  • Hands on experience.
  • Undertake testing and tagging of electrical appliances (Training will be provided if required)
  • Event set ups
  • Litter picking
  • Remedial emergency actions to spills and damage
  • Plumbing needs
  • Replacement of lighting fixtures
  • General maintenance tasks as required
  • Conduct programmed grounds and garden service plan tasks (mow, weed, water & monitor)
  • Undertake a daily cleaning (rubbish pick up) and inspection of the external grounds and garden areas

The successful applicant will be required to provide a current Working with Children Blue Card, Australian National Police Clearance and a First Aid Certificate.
