Monash Department of Clinical Epidemiology - Cabrini

The Monash Department of Clinical Epidemiology at Cabrini focuses on performing high quality clinical trials and health services research with an emphasis on answering questions that are important to both patients and clinicians and can be translated into better quality patient care and outcomes. An opportunity is now available for a motivated and enthusiastic professional with relevant experience to join our team.

The Role

The Biostatistician role provides biostatistical support for research conducted within the Monash Department of Clinical Epidemiology - Cabrini Institute. This includes advice relating to all aspects of study design, data analysis and interpretation of results. The position will be based at Cabrini Malvern. Applicants should have a commitment to excellence and a strong work ethic.

Requirements of the role:

  • Post graduate degree in Biostatistics and a degree in epidemiology or a related discipline.
  • PhD in Biostatistics (desirable).
  • A detailed knowledge of the design and analysis of randomised controlled trials and observational studies.
  • Well-developed skills in statistical computing as well as database creation and management using programs such as Stata, SAS, Excel and Access.
  • Previous experience in performing independent statistical analyses.
  • Extensive experience in analyses of randomised trials, population-based and clinical epidemiology research (desirable).
  • High level organisational skills: the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, initiate and follow-up actions, all with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to write and prepare manuscripts for publication.
  • Ability to supervise training of research staff as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with other staff and external research partners.
  • Familiarity with the NHMRC Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research.
