Baptist Care SA’s Elders Program supports men and women who are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent and are over 50 years old, living in the community and feeling aged and frail. The program also works with women who are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent who are over 18 years old, and are living with a moderate, severe or profound disability and/or experiencing social isolation.

The Volunteer Elders Program Assistant will support staff in running of the program, including transportation of clients, serving meals and engaging with clients.

The following documents are required for all volunteers. Baptist Care SA will assist successful applicants to obtain these at no cost to you.

  • DHS Child-Related Employment Screening Check (less than 3 years old)
  • National Police Check (less than 12 months old)
  • Child Safe Environments Training Certificate (less than 3 years old)

We are looking for Volunteers with the following attributes:

  • A valid full South Australia driver’s licence (C Class)
  • Certificate 3 in Community Services (desirable) or equivalent experiences
  • Ability to volunteer from 9.30am to 2.30pm at least one day per week (Wednesday to Friday) for at least 3 months
  • Be respectful and courteous at all times to all visitors, volunteers and employees of Baptist Care SA
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
  • Empathy with people who experience hardship, loss, disadvantage and disconnection from the community.
