yourtown is a charity with services young people can access to find jobs, learn skills, become great parents and live safer, happier lives. At yourtown you will help to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people, we believe every young person has the right to a brighter future and we’ll do whatever it takes to help make that happen. For over 50 years, yourtown has been dedicated to helping young people. Employing over 500 staff across Australia, we know that creating a brighter future means tackling the challenges young people face; finding them a job, building their skills, mental and emotional wellbeing, family support, education and ensuring they are heard.

What does a yourtown Community Volunteer do?

yourtown Community Volunteers are recruited to support our local programs, workshops and activities which may include language, literacy and numeracy tutoring, arts, sports, dance and creative workshops. All volunteers work alongside our specialist trained staff.

How do our Volunteers really help young people?

Our Volunteers are a positive adult role model and mentor in the young person’s life. Volunteers establish positive and supportive relationships with young people, allowing them to build confidence and self-esteem and to work on their strengths and abilities to set and reach their own goals.

What can Volunteering do for YOU?

Both young people and volunteers get great benefits from the volunteer program. Young people get improved personal, education and vocational outcomes. Volunteers gain enormous personal satisfaction and affirmation. Volunteers bring diverse life and work experiences and continue to gain practical skills in their role with yourtown.

As a yourtown Volunteer you will receive training, learning opportunities and ongoing support. We ask that you commit for the duration of a school term and a minimum of 1.5 hours per week.
