The role


We are looking for an experienced Category Manager/Buyer to join our BIG W Hardgoods team in our Beauty & Consumables team. Your role will be to buy the best and most competitive range, at the best cost and price the range to maximise sales, profit, customer satisfaction and optimise inventory.  This role is ideal for a Buyer who is a solid trader with excellent organisation skills.  You will:



  • Build range, pricing, option plan and proposed promotions using insights and aligned to BIG W strategies

  • Conduct research in order to gain a thorough understanding of the target markets and external market drivers

  • Own supplier relationships and optimise supplier portfolio in category including conducting joint business planning and negotiate trading terms with suppliers ensuring the financial targets are met

  • Work closely with Marketing, Planning and Stores on the execution of promotions and events


About You


You will have previous experience as a commercial retail Category Manager/Buyer successfully trading a sizeable category in terms of worth and options.  You will execute and manage the full end to end buying process and be agile in your thinking and adaptable to change.
