Woolworths is committing significant funding and resources to transform its Supply Chain. The transformation program will allow us to compete more effectively in a highly challenging domestic and global market. The program will touch all parts of our business and will provide the framework to move our business forward.


Reporting to the Business Lead - Logistics Network Design and Strategy, the Network Solutions Manager will play a pivotal role in the transformation program.  Together with the responsibility of identifying and prioritising the network solution activities that lead the organisation to the agreed end state logistics network, this role will fulfil the following tasks and responsibilities:


  • Develop, present, and gain endorsement to initiate new logistic network evaluations

    • Identify and secure resource required to complete work initiatives (from within shared resource pool - analysts, DC design)


  • Develop innovative network design solutions that result in lowest total cost, provide a step change improvement in service, productivity, safety and deliver against set business objectives
    • Ensure a detailed, time-bound project plan is in place for all initiatives with clear ownership assigned

    • Ensure project plans are being implemented in line with agreed timelines and scope

    • Identify and evaluate risks associated with alternative strategy and development scenarios

    • Ensure an auditable structured approach to costs and solutions are maintained with key assumptions clearly articulated

    • Develop, present, and gain endorsement to proceed with logistics network solution business cases, and complete a thorough handover to project delivery teams


  • Maintain stable performance under pressure and/or opposition (such as time pressure, ambiguity, uncertainty and stakeholder resistance).

  • Provide input into a clear and documented roadmap of the Woolworths logistics network across all divisions, domestically and internationally - service expectations, capacity requirements, cost expectations etc

To be successful you will demonstrate significant experience in modelling logistics network scenario's as well as evaluating each option to derive a clear recommendation. 


You will also possess the following skills and experience, which when put into practice, will be key to success in this role.


  • 5 years+ experience in developing logistics network solutions

  • Knowledge and experience within the FMCG retail supermarket and grocery  industry highly regarded

  • Extensive knowledge and operational experience of end to end Supply Chain management

  • Supply Chain Management degree desirable

  • Solid experience in managing people to achieve set objectives; experience in collaborating with others to achieve outcomes.

  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and leading behavioural and cultural change
