Job description:

Reporting to the Product Planning Manager the Inventory Analyst is responsible for ensuring critical business data including sales transactions, branch parts demand summaries, parts location for Guildford and Branch Warehouse is extracted, analysed, interpreted and provided to management and key stakeholders to ensure informed decisions regarding inventory stock levels is based on accurate data.

Utilising the data analysis, the Inventory Analyst is also accountable for the setup of system parameters and utilising continuous improvement methodologies to optimise stock levels and reduce surplus inventory to assist in achieving inventory business objectives.


  • Tertiary Qualification within Business, Logistics and Supply Chain or related discipline coupled with at least 2 years’ experience in an inventory analyst role in a medium to large organisation
  • Highly developed attention to detail with the ability to interpret and summarise data from multiple systems for a range of audiences
  • Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated numerical aptitude
  • Exposure to and understanding of the supply chain process
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
  • Ability to work successfully within a team and autonomously
  • Advanced computer literacy skills - MS Excel


  • Showcase Query knowledge
  • DBSi Knowledge or similiar ERP exposure (SAP preferred)

Below is a list of duties that are required to be performed relating to Data Analysis and Reporting;

  • Extract and analyse Parts Sales and Parts Inventory data as requested utilising the appropriate designated WesTrac system/s
  • Scrutinise any KPIs currently tracking below target, analyse influencing factors and provide insight and recommendations into opportunities to achieve KPI
  • Provide reports to stakeholders (raw data and summaries) as required making recommendations for change to systems, processes or procedures as required
  • Analyse daily stock order high dollar items and determine why a part is suggested for stock order and ensure justification and not result of abnormal sales demand.
  • Review Helpdesk ‘add to stock’ requests and analyse the business case provided, previous sales in similar stores and liaise with Caterpillar to determine whether to approve or decline request
  • Utilising the various systems generate monthly reports including Stock Turn Report, Service Fill Report, Cat Performance Report, Min Type Analysis, Monthly Inventory Report
