   About the Job

METRONET is the State Government’s long-term public transport plan to connect our suburbs, reduce road congestion and meet Perth’s future planning needs. The project will see transport investment as a vehicle for positive land-use planning, changing the face of Perth’s public transport network, promoting economic growth and creating job opportunities.  

As a major contributor in achieving the realisation of these projects, the Public Transport Authority (PTA) has a Safety Compliance Manager role available on a fixed term basis over the life of the various METRONET projects. We are looking for qualified and experienced individuals to be placed in a pool. Subject to suitability, offers of appointment may be made over a 12 month period.

We are currently offering fixed term opportunities for 3 years with the possibility of extension and or permanency.

The role
This role is primarily responsible for performing inspections and internal safety audits and carrying out surveillance of works, inspecting records and reporting on compliance with contract safety conditions and specifications. The role also ensures that public, occupational safety & health, construction safety, traffic management safety and rail safety requirements are met. Other duties of this position include:

    • Identifying potential safety risks associated with the delivery of construction and maintenance contracts and assisting Contract Managers with risk mitigation measures;
    • Inspecting safety records of contractors and compliance with requirements, providing reports for areas of improvement;
    • Assisting contractors to improve their safety management systems and associated documentation; and
    • Providing guidance on interfacing between separate work parties or contractors working on the same site.

What’s required?
To be eligible for this position applicants must possess a Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or significant relevant experience in a similar role as well as a recognised auditing qualification or significant auditing experience.

Applicants must also demonstrate experience in construction site safety management and supervision in the disciplines of civil, mechanical and/or electrical.
