Job description:

We are establishing an appointment pool for vacancies that arise up to 31 December 2019. Appointments may be made on a full-time, part-time, fixed-term, permanent or casual basis. Currently there is a 12 month full time opportunity available for appointment, however further opportunities may arise during the life of the pool.

Suitable candidates will be placed in the appointment pool from which opportunities may be offered as vacancies arise. Candidates may also be considered for similar positions within North Metropolitan TAFE as they arise during the life of the pool. If the appointment pool is exhausted prior to the pool expiry date, we reserve the right to supplement the pool through further advertising.

North Metropolitan TAFE is the established State Government provider of vocational education and training for the northern Perth region. North Metropolitan TAFE now has eleven campuses located across the greater north metropolitan region in; Balga, Clarkson, East Perth, Joondalup (Kendrew, McLarty and Injune), Leederville, Midland, Mt Lawley, Nedlands and Perth (Northbridge). With approximately 1300 staff and over 350 full time courses, North Metropolitan TAFE delivers skilled graduates in occupational priority areas such as Community Services, Education, Hospitality, Business, Engineering, Building & Construction, Health Sciences and Creative Industries.

About the role
Have you ever thought you would like to share your industry knowledge and experience with those learning about or starting in your industry? We are currently seeking candidates with experience and expertise in Community Services (specifically in the area of Workplace Health and Safety) to plan, develop and deliver training and assessment to students in this study area. 

As a Lecturer you will engage students in the learning process using varied delivery methods in a variety of learning environments. You will be valued for your industry relevance, which you will maintain through ongoing collaboration with industry and community networks and professional development. With your ability to be self-reflective, you will regularly analyse your own performance and seek feedback from others. North Metropolitan TAFE will provide ongoing support to build and enhance your teaching and learning capabilities.

Application Requirements
Applicants are required to apply online and need to submit the following:

  • Professional Associations/Memberships;

  • Industry qualification/certification in WHS relevant to Community Services;
  • Training qualifications;

2.  A written statement of how you are able to demonstrate the following two (2) Professional/technical role requirements in no more than 2-pages:

  • Current* technical knowledge and competencies in the industrial vocation or professional field relevant to this position; and
  • At least 5 years of vocational or lecturing experience in a relevant industrial vocation or professional field.

*NB: “Current” is considered within the last 3 years

Other Conditions and Eligibility
Eligibility for employment is subject to obtaining a satisfactory Department of Education Criminal Clearance. If this position involves contact with children, the recommended occupant will also be required to obtain a Working with Children (WWC) Card.

To be eligible for appointment applicants must have a working visa (for fixed term contract appointments) or permanent residency (for permanent appointments).

Candidates will require a relevant industry qualification and at least five (5) years industry experience. You are required to have or attain the appropriate Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and provide all relevant employment clearances.
