Thornlie Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2018 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2018 school year.

Thornlie SHS is seeking teachers who can teach English in the lower secondary (8-10) in addition to having the capacity to possibly teach a combination of General and/or ATAR level English for Year 11 and 12 students. They will be highly organised and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Teachers who can create a learning environment that is differentiated, challenging, caring, and creative and that caters for the range of needs so all students may achieve and progress are encouraged to apply.

Suitable applicants will have the ability to work collaboratively to plan and implement effective teaching and learning plans. Applicants will provide excellence in creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environment and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, the suitable applicants will work closely with students, colleagues and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING 

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
