Kings Park and Botanic Garden is the most visited tourist destination in Perth with a large area of remnant bushland and Bold Park is one of the largest remnant bushlands on the nearby coast. Both parks offer a prestigious work environment for their employees. The agency prides itself on its bushland management and conservation initiatives which help make Kings Park and Botanic Garden and Bold Park unique and iconic places. We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic person with a passion for the environment to join the Bushland Management team as a Land Management Trainee. The successful applicant will gain invaluable on-the-job training and exposure to all areas of Land Management via a comprehensive in-house training program, complemented by formal study.

Applications are welcomed from people who are committed to completing a formal training contract, involving the successful trainee, Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority as the employer, the Apprenticeship Office and the nominated Registered Training Organisation. Please note that this traineeship opportunity is only available for those seeking Certificate Levels 2 and 3 in Land Management. Trainee contracts are based on gaining one certificate level per year and this opportunity is not suitable for people already holding a Certificate Level 3 or similar, or higher. A pre employment screening process applies as part of the selection process.

Selection Criteria
1. Successful completion of Year 10.
2. Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills.
3. Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of land management and conservation. (Provide details in your application of any practical experience you have gained through school or as a volunteer etc.)
4. Strong work ethic with a willingness and ability to perform physical work year round in an outdoor team environment.
5. Knowledge of and enthusiasm for Western Australian flora and fauna.
