With a significant pipeline of opportunities identified across the Transport and Technology sectors, UGL are seeking to appoint a National Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) Assurance & Improvement Manager to support the ongoing development & implementation of strategy across a range of HSE initiatives. This role provides the link between the Corporate HSE team and the Transport & Technology Operations.

Through leading your team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the HSE Assurance & Due Diligence support for the business
  • Development & Maintenance of the HSE System (including training)
  • Facilitate and maintenance of the Divisional HSE Risk Register
  • Management of external Accreditation, Licence and Certification requirements (i.e. Rail Safety Accreditation, Workers Compensation Self Insurance, ISO14001 & AS4801)
  • Internal Audit Program Development & Implementation
  • Manage the review, development, implementation and governance of the Divisional HSSE Improvement Plan
  • Manage the implementation and governance of the Critical Risk Management program along with other HSE initiatives to reduce injury/illness across the division
  • Liaison with key stakeholders to ensure that key targets and initiatives are being achieved

  • Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant disciple – Health, Safety & Environment; Risk Management etc
  • Lead Auditor qualifications in AS4801 or equivalent
  • Incident Investigation qualification (ICAM preferred)
  • Solid experience in a similar role with hands-on experience in Rail, construction or heavy industry environment.
  • Proven background in leading, developing and managing teams
  • Have excellent communication skills including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Are customer focused, team oriented, accountable and results driven
