We have opportunities for Mechanical Piping Design Engineers to join the Asset Services division team in nationally.
UGL Asset Services Engineering & Asset Management (E&AM) has been awarded extended contracts covering the project management, asset management and maintenance activities for a number of sites of Oil & Gas Majors in various locations throughout Australia (Capital City and Regional). The E&AM business is actively seeking candidates who wish to join with us on these exciting contracts. Opportunities exist for short term and long-term appointments.
The role will work with a team of engineers to provide safe, reliable and efficient technical expertise to the business
Responsibilities Include:
  • Ensure the mechanical and piping engineering design effort (i.e. design calculations, drawings, specifications and technical review of the works, etc.) are delivered on time, cost effectively and fit for purpose for the project and business requirements.
  • Produce technically acceptable standard of work and design deliverables.
  • Ensure documentation of appropriate standard is provided to update all relevant Engineering, Operational and Maintenance databases on project completion
  • Ensure the safety of designs through application of specialist expertise, standards, reviews, risk assessments and risk management.
  • Manage project workloads and when appropriate, engage external service providers to supplement the in-house resources
  • Engage and manage specialist external resources where required to meet the project deliverables
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong and effective working relationships with the Client, Key Stakeholders and the UGL Team.
  • Ensure the safety of designs through application of specialist expertise, standards, reviews, risk assessments and risk management.
To be successful in this role;
  • Tertiary Mechanical Engineering qualification
  • Registered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and RPEQ qualified
  • 5+ years of detailed engineering design experience with engineering contracting or consultancy organizations in the resource sector, oil & gas and/or petrochemical industries.
  • Ideally some exposure to Brownfield Capital Projects and Asset Maintenance Projects with terminals or other petrochemical environments.
  • Detailed knowledge of Australian & International codes and standards, good engineering practice and the applicable statutory requirements with respect to fuel tanks & piping works.
  • Ability to conduct & review Fuel Tank & Piping Design Engineering in respect to the following topics:
    • Literate in 3D modelling design methods,
    • Tank design and maintenance specifications and issues,
    • Piping design criteria & fluid mechanic calculations, pipe wall & branch calculations, pipe stress analysis, pipe & valve materials specifications, branch tables, etc.
    • Scope definition, piping support systems
    • Preparation of Materials Requisitions for works
  • Excellent general computer literacy skills as well as specialist knowledge of discipline based applications software.
  • Capability and flexibility to handle multiple brownfield projects in restricted timeframes to support line of business and project goals
