The Thales Australia Maritime business offers ship repair services, maintenance and asset management / in-service support capabilities for commercial and naval ships in Australia. Our Opportunity

We are soon to commence a significant in-service support program for our primary customer, the Royal Australian Navy. You will join the team as we support a critical addition to the Royal Australian Navy fleet. At this moment we are actively looking for a Safety Administration Officer to join our newly formed project team. As our Safety Administration Officer you are responsible for the implementation and verification of Thales’s policies and procedures and maintenance of all protective Safety and Security measures in line with the quality standards and within risks mitigation objectives.


  • Analyse customer and Thales safety requirements, review and implement the HSE Plan
  • Active participation in verification (audit) activity and administration of data from audits, returns / rejections and customer complaints whilst adhering to reporting requirements
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System
  • Support project staff on root cause analysis, monitoring/follow up and closure of customer complaints, improvement actions, non-conformances, corrective and preventative actions
  • Maintain high visibility through personal presence, and act as Thales point of contact for daily ship security quality/safety walk arounds
  • Conduct process reviews based on a risk approach using customer feedback and audit outcomes

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Safety, Quality and related)
  • Experience in and sound working knowledge of HSE issues in a  high risk environment
  • Practical experience in safety processes and assurance/control and verification activities
  • Proven ability to influence others whilst promoting continuous improvement and across the organisation
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written), including the ability to prepare and present reports to a range of audiences
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
