About the role: 

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Procurement professional with a strong business acumen to join the established Purchasing / Procurement team of Thales Australia and New Zealand. 

As a Purchasing Business Partner you will form part of the Thales ANZ Purchasing/Procurement team but will  be actively embedded in the maritime business responsible  for all aspects of Procurement lifecycle. This is a role that will see you go beyond the transactional and will allow you to make valuable contributions across category management and the development of dedicated supplier relationships and strategic sourcing. Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Support and partner with the Thales Maritime business to manage and optimise the purchasing components of a Bid or Project.
  • Support the business through Make, Team, Buy processes
  • Negotiating and implementing supplier agreements in coordination with the Commercial/Legal team and the relevant Purchasing Family Buyer
  • Management of supplier contracts, which includes developing and maintaining supplier relationships, conducting regular supplier reviews and acting on supplier performance indicators

To be considered for this role you will have some, if not all of the below skills and experience: 

  • A Technical or business degree with demonstrated experience in a relevant discipline
  • Experience working in a relevant purchasing or Procurement role within a large technology focussed organisation
  • Some knowledge or experience within the maritime or navel sector would be highly regarded, this could be gained in either a procurement or technical role
  • You will have a proven customer focus and an agile approach to meeting business requirements
  • Please note - all candidates must be eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance
