The Thales Australia Maritime business offers ship repair services, maintenance and asset management / in-service support capabilities for commercial and naval ships in Australia. The  business also offers the provision of docking, reticulated services and facility maintenance within Garden Island (Sydney) within the largest docking facility in the southern hemisphere. With a close proximity to the Sydney CBD and surrounding areas, a growing portfolio of projects and based  at Garden Island, you will be at the epicentre of our Maritime operations in a truly unique location.

The Opportunity 

We are soon to commence a significant in-service support program for our primary customer, the Royal Australian Navy. As a Supply Relationship Manager you will join a newly formed team to support a critical addition to the Royal Australian Navy fleet. As our Supplier Relationship Manager you will control the nominated Subcontractor requirements in accordance with schedules and all associated activities in support of the in-service support and maintenance.  Also, with your strong interpersonal skills you will play a crucial role in  maintaining the ongoing collaborative working level relationship with counterparts within the Thales program, subcontractor networks and other associated stakeholder organisations. Your main responsibility consists of providing subject matter expertise and advice over supplier contracts interpretation and compliance with Defence, other customers and our key-suppliers. Furthermore, as our Supplier Relationship Manager you will need to understand the financial implications of supplier decisions and be able to advice on financial impacts, outcomes and recommend a preferred approach. On a daily basis you will be responsible for managing transactional day to day the procurement (e.g. equipment, materials and services) and contribute to the improvement of Inventory and purchasing practices with the purpose of reducing product costs and lead time.

About you

? Minimum of Certificate level qualifications required in Purchasing or extensive experience in a related field
?       Minimum of two years post certificate industrial experience or minimum of five years relevant industrial experience.
? Although not essential, those with previous experience in a similar Defence industry role will be viewed favourably
? Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building / management skills
? Strong computer skills and proficient in the use of spreadsheets/word processing software

Special Requirements: Must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for a Defence Security Clearance and to access information covered by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
