Sales / Manager / Team Leader

Job description:

At Starlight we know that sick kids are still kids. So our mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children, and their families, by replacing the pain, fear and stress experienced through hospitalisation and treatment with programs that deliver fun, joy and laughter.

Starlight is proud to have been awarded #16 in Best Places to Work Survey 2017.

This is a rare opportunity to work with a highly respected and effective industry leader. We are now in a position to appoint a positive and motivated Program Manager to own the day to day management of the ‘Captain Starlight’ and ‘Healthier Futures', programs in the Northern Territory.

The team is a highly talented and diverse group and managing and developing their skills is one of the most rewarding aspects of this role. Equally important is managing external stakeholder relationships such as hospital relationships, suppliers, other Not-For-Profit organisations, families and visitors to the Starlight Express Room.

This pivotal role is based in the Darwin office (should it be in the Northern Territory) and requires travel to surrounding remote communities, so a willingness to travel in light aircraft is necessary to secure an incredibly rewarding opportunity such as this. Starlight programs are delivered 7 days per week so you will need to be flexible in your working hours to provide support to the teams across all aspects of program delivery.

A general day consists of managing the administrative requirements of the role, people management of the team, attending national teleconferences and meetings and managing events that occur in the Starlight Express Room. No two days are the same so if you are outstanding with your time management, prioritizing and dealing with change this role is going to give you level of satisfaction that is rare.

This is a rare opportunity to join a dedicated and passionate team who are committed to Starlight’s mission. To be successful in this role you will need the follow attributes:

  • Be an exceptional relationship manager, adept at developing new relationships and managing and deepening existing ones
  • Be a creative problem solver
  • A positive leader and motivator
  • Someone who shows initiative and recognises and seeks out opportunities for growth and expansion
  • A person who can work autonomously and self direct
  • Someone who is prepared to roll up their sleeves and make it happen
  • Not afraid to fly in small aircraft...

To make the most of the opportunity – both professionally and personally (don’t forget you would have a wonderful part of Australia ready to explore every weekend!) – you would need to be able to ideally commit to 2 years.  We would work with the successful candidate to support their relocation from interstate.   The role is available to commence in January.

If reading about this opportunity has motivated you and describes you, apply TODAY as we will be appointing the ideal applicant as soon as possible! Applications can be made by submitting your CV and cover letter.

Candidates will be required to complete a Working with Children and Police Check before any successful offer can be made.
