St John Ambulance Australia has served the Community for over 130 years. Our mission is to increase the level of life-saving First Aid skills within the community and save lives.  As a result of our commercial and fundraising activities we are able to provide outstanding community outputs. 

2017 has been an exciting year for St John with great opportunities for those who wish to make a genuine contribution to the community.  Our celebrated community program, First Aid in Schools that has already trained 1 million primary school children nationally at no charge to the schools Based in either Mount Waverley, VIC or Burwood, NSW,  we are currently seeking a self-motivated,  innovative and business savvy individual to lead our fundraising, grants and trusts function across two states with 1 direct report, to continue the momentum in generating funds, sourcing grants, delivering outstanding fundraising, bequest and associated donor programs.

You are likely to be either be a innovative fundraising professional with sound commercial thinking OR a seasoned marketing professional that has had some experience across fundraising, grants, trust or sponsorships, and is looking to make a move into a fundraising leadership role.   

Essential Skills and Attributes (Selection Criteria)
  • Significant experience in senior level fundraising or marketing roles
  • Experience leading and mentoring small teams of marketing, fundraising or grants professionals
  • Good commercial and business acumen
  • A sense of urgency with experience working in fast paced environments
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic, tactical and operational programs which raise funds and demonstrate growth year on year.
  • Knowledge of social media, digital marketing and direct marketing
  • Experience with donor databases and/or CRM systems.
  • A high level of organisation skills and solid attention to detail
  • A strong customer service orientation, both internally and externally
  • Solid written skills with the ability to write meaningful marketing/fundraising copy and business cases
  • Preparedness to travel between Melbourne and Sydney regularly (approx. 1-2 times p/mth)
  • A positive 'can do' attitude
  • A willingness to undertake a national police check and Working with Children Check
Experience working with grants, trusts and bequests are desirable but not essential.
