About the role…
Our M&A and Strategy team is responsible for working with our lines of business to develop, define and evolve our corporate strategy. They are also responsible for identifying, assessing and executing potential corporate transactions including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, investments and business development opportunities for the REA Group.
The purpose of this position is to enhance the team’s capability across both the strategic and transactional elements and play a leading role in projects that will add value to the REA business.
What you’ll be doing…
  • Build and leverage networks to gain deep technology, competitor and product insights across domestic and global markets which facilitate evaluation of strategic opportunities
  • Manage competitive monitoring and reporting initiatives
  • Assess the viability and financial/strategic implications of REA entry into new products and markets
  • Distil output into insightful and useful analysis and recommendations for key stakeholders
  • Assist with identifying and building relationships with potential partners and acquisition targets
  • Investigate and respond to leads referred by ELT, Board members and other senior leaders
  • Lead key work streams across potential corporate transactions
  • Undertake high-quality due diligence to reduce risks to the REA business and ensure appropriate risk-weighted assessment of opportunities
 Qualifications and experience
  • Commerce, Finance, Law, Accounting or Business degree
  • 7+ years of experience in investment banking, management consulting or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of M&A work streams as part of a broader transaction team
  • Experience conducting market research and analysis
  • Experience developing high-quality financial models, presentations, board papers, presentations, reports and other bespoke analytics to support strategic decision-making
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Track record in dealing with and influencing internal and external stakeholders across multiple levels
  • Ability to work autonomously or with senior executives
  • Understanding of Australian and Asian online and/or property industry dynamics highly regarded
  • Work productively in a fast-paced and agile environment - #gsd (urban dictionary will help on this one!)
