Where the Content & Production team fits in
The Content Editor – News & Guides sits within the Content & Production team in the Media Line of Business, headed up by Elizabeth Minogue. The Content & Production team works together to drive audience, experience and awareness. Our goals are consumer engagement, acquisition, retention and reputation management. We help the organisation move towards its goal of ‘changing the way the world experiences property’, by acquiring new consumers, retaining current customers and consumers and by being involved in the property conversation. We achieve these through our annual plans and tactics using content, brand, personalisation, social and communications.
What youll be doing
Do you live and breathe the issues and events that impact the property market? Content Editor – News & Guides supports the Managing Editor – News & Guides to implement realestate.com.au’s News & Guides strategy. You will play a leading role in creating rich and engaging editorial and video content, coordinating contributors, driving ideation and optimising editorial and video content to ensure maximum traffic and engagement.
 
The Content Editor – News & Guides supports the Content & Production Team in the following ways:
 
  • In conjunction with the Managing Editor – News & Guides, lead the development of original and engaging News editorial and video content for use on site and social
  • In conjunction with the Managing Editor – News & Guides, lead the development of original and engaging Guides editorial and video content for use across the Buying, Renting, Selling, Investing, Finance & Building Guides   
  • In conjunction with the Managing Editor – News & Guides, drive regular editorial ideation sessions to maintain the flow of compelling content
  • Harness data, traffic and social insights when commissioning content to ensure high-traffic driving content is prioritised across both editorial and video
  • Maintain editorial strategy and content plan in order to meet REA’s online traffic targets and consumer needs
  • Maintain the content calendar and WIP documents to ensure major issues and events likely to impact the property market are anticipated and prepared for
  • Optimise content to drive traffic/audience and revenue opportunities
  • Delegate daily storytelling tasks to the in-house News & Guides team and commission stories through a range of external contributors 
  • Prepare clear and detailed briefs for the Video and Creative Team and provide timely feedback on videos to ensure editorial requirements are being delivered   
  • Curate realestate.com.au/news and realestate.com.au/guides and supporting pages, sections and content drivers across realestate.com.au
  • Write, sub and edit core News & Guides content in line with best-practice SEO principles
  • Develop content series ideas and work with the Managing Editor – News & Guides to develop new content strategies through video, social, exclusive online channels, etc.
  • Work with Managing Editor – News & Guides to co-ordinate, edit and sub in-house and external contributors
  • Ongoing publishing, coordination and management of content upload
 
What were after
  • 6+ years in editorial content production across magazines, digital and television preferably in the property and/or news space
  • Editorial experience in news / magazine / website environment
  • Commercial experience and high level of business acumen
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem solving skills
  • Creative and innovative approach
  • Experience with creating and curating editorial and video content (demonstrated ability to understand content aggregation)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
