Your role in our future.

In July 2016 Peter Mac relocated to a new state-of-the-art facility in Parkville, Melbourne, providing world’s best cancer care and research facilities. As a key member of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre alliance, Peter Mac affords an ideal collaborative environment for fundamental, translational and clinical cancer research.

The Peter Mac Cancer Research Division consists of greater than 400 staff and students, more than 40 laboratories and world class platform technologies. The Research Division is the largest laboratory-based cancer research facility in Australia. We wish to recruit an emerging scientist or clinician-scientist as Team Leader to be responsible for the day-to-day management of a group of laboratory Researchers.

You will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining competitive peer-review funding, mentoring and guiding researchers and post graduate students. You will be expected to achieve outcomes that contribute significantly to our understanding of cancer and/or reduce cancer’s impact on patients. A research budget will be provided to the successful candidate to help support her/his research activities however it is expected that the candidate will enhance this internal resource through substantial national and international external funding.

Candidates should provide a comprehensive CV, a summary of how they meet the criteria for appointment (please refer to the Team Leader position eligibility & criteria 2018 supplementary document attachment) and a brief vision statement (1-2 pages maximum) for the future of their research. Short-listed applicants will be interviewed and referees’ feedback will be sought. Interview is likely to take place in early 2018. Short-listed applicants will be notified by 24 November 2018.

We anticipate that the successful candidate for this position will commence in early 2018.
