About the role:
An opportunity exists for an experienced Mining Engineer to join our Wilpinjong Mine.  Our Wilpinjong mine is an open-cut mine located 50 kilometres northeast of Mudgee, producing a high quality thermal coal for export and domestic markets.
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will develop and implement dozer operational designs, plans and schedules.  Monitor and report on production performance against the plans and schedules.  Champion the Semi-Autonomous Tractor System (SATS), including trouble-shooting technical issues between SATS, Leica and production systems, both on and off-site. 
Responsibilities will include:
  • Develop and review detailed safe work procedures
  • Liaise with production to achieve efficient implementation of schedule and designs
  • Monitor and report on dozer production performance on a daily basis
  • Ensure dozer operations are scheduled in the most cost effective manner
  • Training, assessment and support for dozer operations
  • Analyse production data and amend schedules accordingly
  • EOM data checks, adjustments and reports
  • Develop and implement procedures that maximise dozer production at the lowest unit rate
  • Communicate openly and effectively with both internal and external customs
  • Show leadership through quality Safety Interactions across site
  • Participate in safety investigations as required.
  • Project work and team support as required
About you:
Critical to your success will be:
  • Demonstrated uncompromising commitment to safety, health and the environment
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering (or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience as a Mining Engineer is essential
  • Experience in an Open Cut Coal Mine and strong computer knowledge is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience with a sound working knowledge of Vulcan software
  • Working knowledge of SPRY, MineOps and MineStar is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in Continues Improvement (CI), cost savings and innovation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
