Hey Industrial Design Students, Optus Calling!

At Optus, the service design team aims to create intuitive and memorable experiences customers will love. We use Human Centered Design to understand people and how Optus fits into their life to come up with services that are simple and intuitive. We come up with crazy ideas. We prototype, we test, we fail, we learn and we improve!

Our Service Design team is excited about offering a 5 week full-time Design Internship to aspiring Service Designers who share our passion for design and the customer. This is an awesome opportunity for you to gain hands-on design experience in a highly specialised and creative Design team. What’s more, our buzzing and high energy Campus environment makes Optus a great place to work!

What role will you play?

  • In your time here you will prepare ethnographic research and spend time with customers, putting yourself in their shoes, really getting to know Customers.
  • You will participate to ideation workshops and meet stakeholders to understand the business imperatives.
  • If you enjoy sketching, you will enjoy the opportunity to create sketch screens and user stories to present to customers and test the value of the ideas.

Be prepared to get your hands dirty because in this small tight-knit team everyone plays a key role and is highly involved. Guess what, your work will be rewarded – Yes this is a paid internship!

We are looking for someone with great empathy. You are can communicate ideas verbally or through mediums. It’s your natural instinct to see things differently; your creative mind enables you to see problems from a new perspective. As a person you are a proactive and collaborative team player who enjoys sharing and bouncing ideas with others, creates prototypes and more importantly has fun along the way. The nitty-gritty & how to apply?

  • The Design Internship is ideally suited to students pursuing the Industrial Design Course and will run from mid-January 2018 for 5 weeks.
